- 2013 — NEXUS PLANNING IS FORMED
Nexus Planning launches in 2013
- 2019 — EARLY NATIONAL RECOGNITION
Nexus describes its 2020 RTPI win as “a great follow up” to being commended in 2019, showing that the practice was already gaining recognition at a national level before its 2020 award win.
- 2020 — RTPI PLANNING CONSULTANCY OF THE YEAR
Nexus won RTPI Planning Consultancy of the Year 2020, a major milestone in the firm’s growth and profile. Nexus also says this came just seven years after being established in 2013.
- 2021 - CARBON-NEGATIVE STATUS AND FURTHER AWARD SUCCESS
At the start of 2021, Nexus said it had become the first town planning consultancy it could verify to obtain carbon-negative status, and the firm’s careers page also notes it was North West RTPI Planning Consultancy of the Year in 2021.
- 2022 BRISTOL OFFICE ESTABLISHED AND RTPI FINALIST
Nexus says its Bristol office was established in 2022 and grew quickly, while also noting that the practice was an RTPI Planning Consultancy of the Year finalist in 2022.
- 2023 - FIVE-OFFICE NATIONAL FOOTPRINT
By 2023, Nexus was describing itself as an independent consultancy with around 40 qualified staff and offices in London, Reading, Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester, showing the scale of its national footprint.
- 2024 - ANALYTICS AND PUBLIC-SECTOR CAPABILITY STRENGTHENED
By late 2024, Nexus had an established Nexus Analytics & Research (NAR) offer and announced that, together with Yellow Submarine AI, it had won a place on the G-Cloud 14 framework.
- 2025 - CONTINUED EXPANSION AND NEW SPECIALIST WINS
In 2025, Nexus announced the expansion of its Birmingham office and regeneration remit and also reported securing consent for an advanced biofuel facility in Medway, Kent, showing continued growth in both team capability and project delivery.
- 2026 - CURRENT POSITION
Nexus currently presents itself as a UK planning and regeneration consultancy with five offices, a broad sector offer, and a dedicated Analytics & Research capability supporting evidence-led planning work.
