Fiona Bruce

Principal Analyst

Fiona Bruce is a Principal Analyst in the Nexus Analytics and Research team. She advises on demographics, human health and economics, supporting the wider Nexus team and external clients with evidence-led insight for planning, development and impact assessment work.

Fiona joined Nexus Planning in September 2021 and is a Principal Analyst within the Nexus Analytics and Research team. Her role focuses on providing insight into demographics, human health and economics, helping planning teams and clients understand the impacts of development and the evidence behind development needs.


Before joining Nexus, Fiona worked within an academic research centre, giving her a strong research-led approach to planning evidence, socio-economic analysis and policy-related work.


Fiona specialises in demographic and socio-economic research, including the preparation of socio-economic and human health Environmental Statement chapters and Health Impact Assessments for major planning applications. She also prepares evidence relating to housing need, open space need, and education need in support of planning applications.


Her work includes supporting local authorities across the UK and Ireland with evidence-based documents, including retail and leisure studies, open space studies and specialist housing assessments. Fiona has experience across the South East, South West, West Midlands, East Midlands and Northern Ireland.

She has worked with local authorities across the UK and Ireland, the Barbican Centre, and housebuilders including Taylor Wimpey, Vistry and Crest Nicholson. Fiona is also an Associate of the Institute of Economic Development.
